This month I started on the floor in the kitchen. The first thing was to remove the rotten wood. Just a few boards and leave the rest. Not!!!. Massive amounts of removal were in order. Where does one stop? Termite damage and rot were throughout. In the end I removed everything down to the joists. Even the joists were not fit to be left without major rehabilitaion and sistering.

And of course copious quantities of the magic elixir were applied.

As can be seen here.

During this time of wood removal and rehab, I also spent some time collecting boards to be turned into tongue and groove finished floor. These boards came from several sources. Discarded wood from other houses. It is getting hard to find that now. People realise how much it is worth, so it is kept by the contractors and remilled. Some reclaimed wood from this house. And I have other sources as well.
